Fund Raisers

Major Fund Raisers Include:

White Cane – twice a year members stand outside local businesses and request donations from the community.
Brunswick Stew Sale – in January, the members become chefs for three days to cook and sell Brunswick stew.
Vidalia Onions – in May, after several members drive to Georgia and pick up fresh Vidalia onions, 10 lb. bags are sold by the club.
Broom Sale – the Lion members sell brooms and other household supplies that have been packaged by the sight impaired.

100% of all funds raised in public events go to support our service projects and charities.  Lion members pay all administrative costs for the local club, District, State and International through membership dues.

Lions Clubs are men and women who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes. The Lions Motto is: “WE SERVE”

Lions clubs serve their communities primarily by undertaking fund-raising projects and donate the proceeds to worthy causes.  In our club, the vision programs are our most active, especially in providing eye examinations and eyeglasses to needy individuals.

The Williamsburg Lions Clubwas chartered in 1934.  The club changed its name to Williamsburg Host Lions Club on May 13, 2011.  The change was made after the club sponsored the New Town Lions club which was the fifth club they have sponsored.

The Williamsburg Host Lions Club exists to meet the needs of the local community.

Zone B is a group of five clubs in the local area that interact on projects that are bigger than one club can handle alone.  Other Lions Clubs in our zone are James City, New Kent County, Poquoson, and York.

District 24-D pulls together Lions Clubs from the greater Tidewater area and the Eastern Shore of Virginia.  The District maintains its own Sight and Hearing Mobile Unit, Youth Diabetes Camp and manages a charity fund for special needs of the District.

Multiple District 24 covers the State of Virginia.

Lions Clubs International has headquarters near Chicago and works to both provide help to local clubs and to head up worldwide projects that impact on our core areas of helping the blind, visually impaired and youth.
